Homicide Case: 3 Former Soldiers Arrested in Abuja

August 21, 2011 – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Police Command paraded three dismissed soldiers over alleged culpable homicide on Friday, spokesman Jimoh Moshood has said.

Moshood said the suspects were arrested in July over the alleged killing of one Agbeke Odigiri, adding that the suspects abducted the deceased on December 14, 2010 on allegation that he duped someone related to one of them.

Agbeke was taken to a secret location where, according to Moshood, he was “tortured him to death.

“In fact, the suspects were just dismissed yesterday but we arrested them about a month ago while still serving,” he said. “They received a complaint from someone that some fraudster duped a woman who is related to one of them. They went out and abducted the individual, one Odigiri Agbeke and tortured him to death. ’’

The suspects allegedly took the corpse to the premises of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Garki and attempted to dump it outside the gate.

The spokesman said they wanted  to give the impression that he was killed by the squad, adding that when they found it impossible to do so, they buried the man in a bush behind the SAR’s premises.

Meanwhile, the command also paraded a fake  “Army General’’, who allegedly duped one Mrs Ijeoma Ozor of N9.1 million in a land deal.

Four other suspects were paraded over the alleged vandalism of solar panels meant to power Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras mounted at strategic locations in Abuja.

Four solar panels, eight solar batteries and a Golf car with registration number XG975RSH were recovered from the suspects.
