Nigeria’s under 20 team gets off to flying start in World Youth Championship
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles got off to a great start at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia. The team beat their first oppoentnts, Guatemala, by 5 unreplied goals.
Edafe Egbedi opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the game off an assist from star player Ahmed Musa. Egbedi doubled the lead just before half time, again assisted by Musa.
Team mate Abdul Ajagun made it three shortly after the restart, and by this time the Nigerian team was coasting. Olanrewaju Kayode got the fourth in the 53rd minute, and man of the match Musa got his name on the scoresheet in the 77th minute.
The backbone of the team comes from the Golden Eaglets who finished runners-up at the last FIFA U-17 World Cup on home soil two years ago. (Daily Times)
