Mpho Tutu Loses Priesthood Licence For Moving Against Anglican Church’s Rule
Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu, the daughter of Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu who married her lesbian partner last year has been sacked by the Anglican Church.
Canon Mpho was forced to give up her priesthood license by South Africa’s Anglican Church because she married a woman.
She was told she can no longer preside at Holy Communion, wedding, baptisms or funerals.
Mpho was forced to return her licence because the Anglican Church doesn’t recognise gay marriage.
She married Marceline, a Amsterdam-based professor in the Netherlands in December 2015.
The lesbian partners, both divorced have children from their previous straight relationships.
