Former President of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had his dreams come true today after he was installed as the new Emir of Kano.
The governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwakwanso confirmed Sanusi’s appointment on Twitter on Sunday afternoon
“It’s official: the new Emir of Kano is former CBN governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,” @kwankwaso_rabiu tweeted.
Sanusi allegedly snatched the position from the first son of late Alhaji Ado Bayero who passed away on Friday.
Due to the politics involved in the installment of Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano, several residents of Kano took to the streets today to protest the appointment.
Sanusi , the current Dan Majen Kano got the backing of Kano state Governor to become the successor to late Ado Bayero.
Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Engr. Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi, announcing Lamido Sanusi Lamido as the new Emir of Kano said the choice was made after due consultations with relevant stakeholders.
Sanusi defeated Ado Bayero first son and Yahaya Inuwa Abbas, son of former Emir of Kano, late Muhammadu Inuwa Muhammadu Inuwa who spent six months on the throne.
Muhammadu Inuwa was succeeded by the late Emir Ado Bayero in 1963.
Sanusi Lamido the new Emir of Kano is yet to make his first public appearance.
