See The List Of Drugs Causing Highly Contagious Stevens Johnson Syndrome, SJS
Nigeria’s Health Minister, Isaac Adewole alerted Nigerians yesterday of the presence of a new killer disease in Nigeria.
The disease called Stephen Johnson Syndrome also called Stevens Johnson Syndrome has killed a Nigerian while another is clinging to life at the National Hospital Abuja.
While briefing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Dr Adewole said the disease is causing a strange allergic reactions in Nigeria and Europe.
It is a rare and unpredictable allergic reaction to drug, and is also a minor form of toxic epidermal necrolysis with less than 10 percent body surface area involvement.
Incidence of SJS is estimated between 1.1 and 7.1 cases per million per year and is more prevalent in women than men. Incidence in Europe is two per million per year” Mr. Falodun said.

Why can’t they ban the drugs and ensure they are taken off the market completely until solution is found?
More should be done as a great majority of people do not read or have the opportunity of being educated on the dangers posed.
