June 7, 2016 – UNILAG Postgraduate Students Drown At Elegushi Beach During Friend’s Birthday Party

Tragedy struck at Elegushi Beach on Sunday when two ladies drowned during the birthday party of a friend.

24-year-old Funmi Odusina and her friend 27-year-old Shola Ogunmefun were overpowered and swept away by ocean tides while enjoying the beach birthday bash of a friend on Sunday.

A friend of the deceased Ginika Okolo made this known on IG yesterday.

The victims who graduated from Covenant University recently completed their Masters Program at UNILAG .

Sad!! Why don’t Elegushi beach management have life guards?? This is really sad.

    But must people celebrate birthday at the beach? I wonder what’s happening nowadays. Celebrate your birthday in your house, church and event hall, NO people can’t. I doubt if the celebrant will ever celebrate her birthday at a beach again. RIP to the sacrificial lambs.

    How ignorant, how blind, how helplessly nothing is man that he should live his life like he accounts to no one! Were those ladies even hinted as to the imminence of their death moments after snapping that foto, would they have put their houses in order? This is one very sad thing! May their souls rest in peace!

    does it mean, as big as eleguchi beach is, there no rescue team??? what happen to all the money they are collecting. if u ask me those fee collectors should be held responsible, for this great loss. bastards
