3 Nigerian Pastors Die In Car Crash On Abeokuta Sagamu Expressway After Deliverance Service At Oke Iragbiji Osun State
Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Three Pastors on Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway
In a heartbreaking incident that occurred on Saturday, three pastors lost their lives in a fatal accident on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State. The accident took place when their driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a devastating crash. Two other individuals sustained injuries, while three were fortunate enough to escape unharmed.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the tragedy. According to him, the accident happened around 9:44 am near Day Waterman College, a renowned private school located in Kobape, inbound Abeokuta. The collision involved a black Rio car with the license plate AKD 827 DV and a white Sino truck with the license plate WDL 466 XA.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a combination of factors, including the driver falling asleep at the wheel, excessive speeding, and loss of control on the part of the Rio car driver. Eyewitnesses reported that the Rio car was occupied by a driver, a passenger, and three pastors who were dressed in white robes. These pastors had just concluded prayers and a deliverance service in Oke-Iragbiji, Osun State, and were on their way back.
Tragedy struck when the driver of the Rio car, who was allegedly dozing off behind the wheel due to fatigue, lost control of the vehicle. The car veered over the median, colliding with and uprooting a streetlight before crashing head-on into the Sino truck, which was transporting a load of cement and heading out of Abeokuta.
The impact of the collision was severe, instantly claiming the lives of the three pastors. The driver and the front-seat passenger of the Rio car suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
As news of this tragic incident spreads, our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the pastors who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident. Babatunde Akinbiyi took the opportunity to urge motorists to prioritize safety on the roads, emphasizing the importance of avoiding speeding and ensuring an adequate rest period of at least six to seven hours before embarking on a journey. Such precautions can significantly reduce the risks of accidents caused by fatigue or loss of control.
This incident serves as a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of responsible driving. As a community, let us come together to support the affected families during this difficult time and strive to create safer road environments for all. May the souls of the departed pastors rest in eternal peace.
