Outrage As Arsonists Destroy Ajegunle Lagos Auto Spare Part Market

In a tragic incident, a security guard was shot dead by suspected arsonists who set fire to the Akere spare parts market in Ajegunle, Lagos, leaving rows of auto spare parts shops burnt. The inferno was so severe that it took hours for firefighters to control the blaze and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings, including a gas station.

The deceased, who was a security guard in the market, was trying to prevent the arsonists from setting the market on fire when he was shot. Police officers from Tolu Division and officials from the Lagos State Fire Service managed to put out the inferno, but the damage had already been done.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has been met with shock and sadness from people all over Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his condolences to the victims and their families, as well as his concerns about the repeated fire outbreaks in public places in Lagos.

According to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari called on relevant authorities in the state to take necessary precautions to stem the tide. This statement was released just weeks after a similar fire incident in Lagos claimed the lives of several people and left many injured.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of Nigerian markets and the measures in place to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring. It is no secret that Nigerian markets are often overcrowded and lack basic safety standards, making them vulnerable to fire outbreaks and other disasters.

In response to this incident, many have called for stricter safety measures to be put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The incident has also reignited calls for better security measures to be put in place to prevent such senseless acts of violence.

It is hoped that the relevant authorities will take swift action to investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. In addition, it is imperative that the government takes steps to ensure that the safety of Nigerians is not compromised by lax safety standards and poor security measures. The loss of life and property in such incidents can never be compensated for and must be prevented at all costs.

The ibos haven’t seen anything yet. You think you can make it from Lagos and also deny those who enabled you. That will never happen here
