10 people were killed while 8 others suffered critical injuries in a fatal car crash that happened on Bauchi-Gombe Federal Highway very close to Alkaleri town in Bauchi State, Nigeria. naijagists.com

In a news briefing on Friday Bauchi FRSC commandant, Mahmud Kachalla said the car accident happened on Friday afternoon between the village of Tsohuwar Gwaram and Alkaleri city in Bauchi State.

He further said the accident involved eighteen passengers and 2 cars plus a motorcycle.

Kachalla said on the list of the victims were 5 women,3 men, one boy and a girl. He said the people injured include 5 men, a woman, and 2 boys.

According to him, over-speeding was the cause of the accident . He said 14 passengers inside the Gulf car were coming from a condolence visit in Jigawa state when the head on collision occurred.

Kachalla said Federal Road Safety workers in Alkaleri rushed the injured people to Alkaleri General Hospital for emergency medical treatment. He cautioned vehicle operators to continually comply with traffic law in order to cut accident rate along the highway particularly in this festive period of mass movement.
