Bus Runs Into Christians Marching Towards Galilee On Easter Monday In Numan Adamawa State, Injures 17
A commercial bus yesterday ran into a procession of Christian worshippers injuring at least 17 persons taking part in Easter Monday Holy ritual of a church in the Numan LGA of Adamawa State.
Many of the victims, who sustained bone fractures were reportedly taken to different hospitals in Numan, the council’s headquarters.
Eyewitnesses said the accident happened around 10 am, adding that the bus had been seized and the driver arrested.
One of the eyewitnesses, Stanley Jaule, said the affected members of the Christian community were marching towards a mountain which they called Galilee when the bus ran into them from behind.
He said, “While they were participating in Easter procession, a passenger bus just came from behind them and injured so many people, mostly women and children.”
He added that the accident almost caused a serious crisis as others in the procession became angry and tried to grab the driver.
Jaule, however, said peace later prevailed as some passersby were able to calm down the Christians.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said;
“There was an incidence which occurred this morning where a passenger bus lost control and ran into some worshippers injuring several persons. There was tension as a result of the incidence, but our men were able to bring the situation under control and normalcy has returned to the area.”

The bus did not lose control. I can bet it happened on purpose. The same thing happened in Bauchi, perpetrated by a civil defence guy and poliice friend. Those ones got instant justice. Anyone or group of persons that makes any attempt to rob people of peace will never know peace

Truth is, most vehicles on Nigeria’s roads are not roadworthy, without brakes and other essential components necessary to prevent tragedies on our roads. Walking daily as a pedestrian on those roads are risky. The organizers should have taken permits to cordon off the roads the procession would pass by, so traffic is not in direct vicinity of their procession. They hold marathons on many Sundays a year in America and accidents don’t happen as vehicles are completely stopped from those roads (cars here must pass inspection else the owner could face criminal charges). Ordinary common sense options can save unnecessary loss of lives and injuries to mankind.

Bad roads, bad vehicles, bad intentions. Nobody knows the truth but the Almighty will give just reward to whoever intentionally causes misery to innocent people. With hardship prevalent in the land one can only hope that something is done by Government to assist in ensuring that the injured get prompt and adequate medical treatment.
