January 11, 2017 – Christian Girl Who Converted To Islam & Married Muslim Lover In Katsina Disowns Parent

18-year-old Habiba Ishaku today disowned her parents and dissociated herself from a suit instituted on her behalf by a foundation and the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) over her conversion to Islam.

The church and the foundation went to court when the girl eloped, embraced Islam and married one Jamilu Lawal in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Her father, Mr Ishaku Tanko, had gone to a Katsina High Court in collaboration with Trustees of Stefanos Foundation and ECWA to challenge the action, claiming that Habiba was a minor.

During the court sitting on Wednesday, the judge, Justice Baraka Iliyasu-Wali, drew the attention of the plaintiff and defence counsels to a letter addressed to the court by Habiba, disassociating herself from the suit.

In the letter, Habiba also disputed the claim that she is a minor, putting her age at 18.

In his submission, counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Bawa Yakubu, urged the court to disregard the letter, arguing that since it was written in Hausa language, it should not be admitted as a document before the court.

He insisted that Habiba was still a minor, and therefore not legally entitled to take such decisions on her own.

However, the defence counsel, Mr Abu Umar, averred that the subject matter in the case was Habiba, who had written the letter to the court disassociating herself from the case.

Umar maintained that the girl has the right to write to the court to inform it of her stand.

The counsel further argued that since the letter was written in Hausa language and translated to the court in English language, then, it can stand as concrete document before the court.

“Even if she is a minor as argued by the defence, there is no law that prevents a minor from expressing his or her views according to the Nigerian Constitution.

“Habiba also told the court in her letter that she is 18 years and not 14 years, as being speculated,” he said, and prayed the court to accept the letter.

In her ruling, the judge said that Habiba would be summoned to appear before the court to explain whether she was the author of the letter or not.

She adjourned the case to January 25, for continuation of hearing.

Mr. Ishaku Tanko, you have done what a responsible father can do, but if she insists to do that, just leave her alone, time will come when she will come back to her senses and probably it’s too late by then…but the good thing is she must be old enough to bear any pain that comes with her decision.

Who ever is encouraging this girl to disown her own parents must understand that the table may turn.

Its very much obvious she’s been brainwashed and her newly married experience with her man is also currently taking it toll on the poor girl. Its certain she will return to her right senses when the reality of life begin to set in.

It is not appropriate for her to disown her parents. This is not Islamic. Even she embraced islam is not excuse to disown one’s parent. Islam frowns at those who severe family ties.

“And those who break the covenant of Allah, after its ratification, and sever that which Allah has commanded to be joined (i.e. they sever the bond of kinship and are not good to their relatives) and work mischief in the land, on them is the curse, and for them is the unhappy home (i.e. Hell)” (Ar-Rad 13:25. See also Sura Muhammad, 47:22-23).

And there are many ahadith which speak against people breaking up family ties. Fine she embraced islam. So long as her parents do not threaten her life, she has no reason to disown them. Even if they do, all she could do is seek temporary shelter elsewhere. She cant be muslim and cutting off her parents. That’s haram (forbidden).

THE MALLAM that actually brainwash this ignorant girl is indeed powerful to some extent. Whatever portion they must have given her to drink in the process of covertion that may not necessarily apear on the news was so potent to the extent of making her rejected her own parents.
    This is serious!

TRY THIS with a muslim girl, as a Christian and what will follow would be heart-melting.

CHRISTIANITY is not just a religion. It is a way of life accepted by God Almighty. A life according to God‘s programme for every man. So anyone who voluntarily dumps it for any other religion in the World especially for islam is nothing but a CONFUSED, BRAINWASHED and DAMNED Soul.
So instead of any legal action, I think she needs more of our prayers to enable her come out of darkness to light.

    I take a stroll…
