edo libya returnees reject N1000 transportation allowance

January 10, 2018 – Protest As Nigerian Libya Returnees Reject N1000 Transportation Allowance, Demands More Money In Benin City Edo State

The protest that started yesterday in Benin city Edo state continued this morning when some Libya returnees rejected the N1,000 transportation allowance given to them by the state government.

Several people also stormed the premises of the Benin Motel Plaza where the returnees were lodged to find their lost relatives.

Those looking for their relatives peeped through the fence to look for their love ones as you can see in the photo above.

A woman, who gave her name as Boss, said she was looking for her brother named Aminu who called her from Libya in September 2016.

The protesting returnees said it was sad they were still wearing the prison uniforms given to them in Libya despite all the countless promises the Federal Government made to them.

  1. No, N1000 cannot suffice in the wake of fuel scarcity and festive season hikes in transport fares. Besides, not all the returnees are heading to the same location , thus it should not be a flat rate payment that is provided for their transport. After doing a good job of bringing them back home the Government should go the extra mile and ensure the people get to their respective homes. Doing right is never waste of time. And, get them some change of clothing so they do not have to wear the prison uniforms home PLEASE!!! God bless you.

  4. Whatever move this governor or government is making is gearing towards the next election, i wish these guys can maintain their ground and turn this to a very serious protest, not for any transportation but for their right and for the government to put things in order.

All happening now is for a purpose and let the youths seize this opportunity and demand for their right, enough of the deceit and promise and fail, we can only die but ones.
Nobody should blame this guys because our government failed woefully,if only they can provide the basic amenities, no one will dare to be making such move of trekking to Europe via libya.

  5. A beggar has no choice. They should be happy that the government was kind enough to get them back. What of those that died in detention.
