Egypt Sends 500 Nigerian Students Back To Student Over Missing Travel Documents
Reports have emerged that over 500 Nigerian students have been sent back to Sudan by Egyptian authorities following the failure of two of them to provide proper travel documents. According to sources, the Nigerian students were instructed to provide either a passport or Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) before traveling, but some of them failed to do so. As a result, the two students without proper documents were asked to stay back, but they ignored the instructions and joined their colleagues who had the necessary travel documents.
The Egyptian authorities reportedly discovered the two students at the Aswan airport and were angered by their actions. As a result, they ordered all the Nigerian students to be taken back to Sudan to obtain the necessary permits before returning to Egypt. The official who shared the information expressed disappointment that the actions of the two students had spoiled the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to airlift the students.
It was also reported that in the midst of the confusion, a little child sneaked into Egypt and his whereabouts could not be ascertained. The official warned students at Port Sudan to behave in a coordinated manner to avoid being returned back to Khartoum. The official also stated that legal actions would be taken against the two students who sneaked into Egypt.
The incident has caused a delay of almost 10 hours for the Nigerian students, who will now have to obtain an exit permit before getting another permit to travel back to Egypt. The situation has caused concern among Nigerians, who are worried about the plight of their students in a foreign land. The Nigerian government has been urged to intervene in the situation and ensure that the affected students are properly taken care of.
