Disgraced UNILAG lecturer and pastor at Foursquare Gospel Church, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu who was accused for sexually harassing female student in an undercover report by BBC journalist has been reportedly rushed to hospital after he attempted to commit suicide.

BBC Africa Eye’s on Monday released a documentary targeted at lecturers in some West African universities harassing their students for sex in exchange for grades. After collecting dozens of testimonies from female students, BBC Africa Eye sent an undercover journalist, Kiki Mordi disguising as students inside the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana.

The story of the UNILAG senior lecturer and pastor at Foursquare Gospel Church, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu, caused serious buzz on social media after he was caught on tape soliciting intimacy from an undercover journalist who posed as a 17-year-old minor seeking admission in the school.

Boniface came under attack on social media as social media users flocked his Facebook timeline using all sorts of language against him. A close family friend has confirmed that the lecturer was admitted to the hospital after he drank rat poison in an attempt to kill himself.

In the late hours of Monday evening, Dr. Boniface was found on the floor unconscious with bubbles in his mouth, he was then rushed to Reddington Hospital, the family friend said.

He has been placed on suicide watch at the aforementioned hospital.

  1. All is well. But what amaze me most is that don’t they have wife at home and kids . God give these people a reason to always think no matter the conditions or temptations coming up their way they should be calm at all time and resist the devil.

My prayer to you sir, may God forgive you your sins.

  2. I watched the secretly recorded video. The man is a beast. I have no sympathy for him. There are many of them in that institution and all others. No wonder most of the graduates from these institutions can’t defend their certificates. How can they when lecturers fail female students unless they open their legs for them and the males fail because they refuse to settle the lecturers or are involved in cultism. Gone are the days when Nigeria education use to be the envy of other nations. Thanks to the military and to those illiterates who want other people to wait until they catch up before Nigeria can progress.

  3. These are bastards preaching one “one wife” but they got so much concubines out there. Bunch of hypocrites.

  4. It’s sad to know that BBC is the one to get this kind of thing exposed, shame to Nigeria journalists with their coward approach to issues… But BBC, pls help us to expose more of the pedophiles in the UK.

  5. Mr. Lecturer, I think you can still have a date with your students without threatening them with grade marks. University is an adult school. You crossed the line when you are using your position to get sex. There are some students who are willingly to go on date with their professors based on personal interest. Do you know how many students who might have wanted to date Professor Wole Shoyinka or Dr. Chinua Achebe? plus you titled yourself a Pastor just by quoting scriptures. A real Pastor must have self control and have the will to restrain himself from sexual advances. Dr. Boniface, I think you need a real deliverance.

    • Jilo, you are part of the problems. Does he needs “deliverance” or jail?.

Please get over this deliverance bullshit that put you on this pathetic position in the first place. There is no deliverance anywhere. It is a scam invented by CHRISTIANs in Nigeria to shield criminals from persecution. The pastor must face wrath of the law not stupid deliverance.

Deliverance only has to do with spiritual prowess not criminal act. You get it?
