Ghanaian Workers Without Work Permits In Nigeria To Be Deported – FG Reacts As Ghana Deports Citizens

The FG yesterday said it would soon clamp down on illegal immigrants in the country.

The government statement was in reaction to the deportation of 723 Nigerians by the Ghana Immigration Service.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, who said this at the BRF Gabfest 2 programme with the theme, ‘Where Are The Jobs’, in Lagos, lamented the inhuman treatment of Nigerians abroad, saying the country also had laws to deport illegal immigrants.

He said there was an ongoing audit of workers on many construction sites in the country to ascertain how many ECOWAS citizens were working in the sites, noting that although they did not need a visa to come into the country, they needed work permits.

Fashola added;

“Ghana deported some Nigerians. It is the right that every country has. It is a right we have never exercised. But we are going to exercise it now. If you want to work in Nigeria, the same regulation that applies in your country that you must get a work permit also applies here.’’

Fashola said the President had issued Executive Order 5 to get jobs for Nigerian youths.

He said, “What Executive Order 5 seeks to achieve is that anytime our economy produces opportunity, we must ensure that if Nigerians are able to do that job, we should give them preference.’’

  1. Oloshi people…How can a responsible government talk like this..instead of looking at a problem more diplomatically..You are ranting like an agbero…..May be we still think Nigeria still a Giant?…Do we even still have jobs in Nigeria ?

  2. Nigeria should take the upper hand in this battle. Ghanaians are very jealous of Nigerians and I believe over 80% of these deportees are innocent.
Let Nigerians fix their country and stop running to ghana for safety

    • my brother,no one is jealous of nigerians, the problem is the vices they so deep rooted in that raises the problem for most countries to deal with.most nigerians in ghana re into fraud, prostitution, drug peddling, kidnapping, armed robbery to mention a few.there re alot of of other country’s citizens in ghana who re living freely becos they re legally working and earning decent wages but not ur people…they like to lazy about and practice fraud

  3. which yeye order 5?we humiliated them back in the day and its their turn to hit us back..where are the jobs mr fashola, electricity nko?shebi u talk back then that it wasnt a rocket science but your tenure is about to end,yet no show.current govt should go..people are risking their lives to seek for survival abroad.people perish on high seas enroute europe, look at mayhem in libya,cameroon,s/africa and now Ghana..we dont deserve such insults abroad.enough is enough..use your pvc and your brain

  4. Would soon deport? Still talking when you should have deported immediately…action quickly. Or our President is yet to get to the document?

  5. i am a Nigerian living in Ghana, they do not deport just any Nigerian but miscreants, kidnappers and prostitutes even internet fraudsters who cause so much trouble in their country some even fight on the streets, recently kidnapping has been introduced into their communities, and those arrested in connection with the crime are Nigerians

    • Keep ***** mr. have you think about it in the other way if those crime you state was not committed by the Nigerians. so much is going on here in Ghana and i’m so impress to believe that Ghanaian have no feelings of love for Nigerian. Jealousy is their hubby. most crime are committed by their citizen but because we spend more than they get so they put all evil that happen in Ghana on Nigerians. before you gorge you first look at both side. don’t be a king that conclude perciality

      • Gangyy, am very sure you are an internet fraudster, no decent Nigerian will comment like this. You are likely to be a criminal.

    • Thank you Ahmed.
      You speak right.
What all if us should know is that treats ne er sol e any problem. So for the FG to take that pose and issue a treat is rather unfortunate and we as citizens should not fuel it.
The treason why I like your comment Ahmed.

    • There re approximately 4million nigerians in ghana doing what…..if u deport all ghanaians, be ready to welcome your 4million citizens back home.recent kidnappings in ghana re fueled by nigerians, evidence shows

  6. All countries better and worse than Nigeria are bullying Nigerians and the government is still using the ‘siddon look’ approach. It is not only charity that begins at home but bad behaviour, corruption and the likes. If the ‘home’ was good, there wont be need to become scavengers out there

  7. ?? If Ghana can deport Nigerians why can’t we do the same, you claim the Nigerians where robbers yet she go to their houses and estort money from them, yet your people leava here with no disturb what so ever, plzz DEPORT dem ASAP

  8. Battle for supremacy will not be the solution, because when two elephants fight, it’s always the grass that suffers. Those funning the fire, should think of the unemployed youth in both side of the aile.In every house, there the good and the bad nut, law abiding citizens and intentional law breakers, whose actions affects the destiny of millions. My thought about the situation is that, the two sides (GHANA and NIGERIA) should petition the (ECOWAS) and create visas amongst themselves and that will go a long way to Curb influx of people crossing each other’s boarders like cattle.I am a Ghanaian and my best friend is Olu of Ibadan.

  9. supported, Nigeria government should act fast this is a very big insult to Nigerian, most of the workers in many construction site in Nigeria are Ghanaians , the can’t try this nonsense to ivory coast.

  10. We should also start sacking them cos they ‘re engaging in bad things in our country

  11. I lived in ghana for 5years before i moved to USA. I speak three languages in Ghana and i can boldly tell you the real bad ways of Ghanaians. They are just envious .
Ghana man hate to see a Nigerians progressing , they will be ok with you when you are struggling , they will start hating once you start making money, they also feel very bad when their ladies fell in love with Nigerians .
Ghanians ladies are very good people, most of them are against this enviness created by their men against Nigerians, their ladies know that Nigeriansare hardworking and creative people.
Their men envy Nigerians in many areas. Football, music , Movies, swagging, smartness and normal ways of business negotiation.
The issue if cyber crime, i have to make it clear to you guys who don’t know , 90% of Ghanian youths that live in Accra are deep into cyber crime mixed with Vudoo and their government never see anything bad about it.
They covered the crime of their citizen and prevent it not to smell out. They are lot of dangerious Ghanians bank robbers , there are lots of No GO areas in Accra where criminals attacks you broard day light , (place like NIMA)
Ghanians only use mouth to praise their country to be a great nation, they have nothing, they can never compare their country with Nigeria,
Lagos state alone is greater than the whole Ghana. The beauty of Accra is only on the road front view, the rest of the back is ghetto.
Nigeria is a great nation, the main problem of Nigerians is, we are not contented with what we have, we always condem and criticize ourselves. Other country look at us as a criminals because we tell them that we are criminals. There is no bad things Nigerians do that other countries are not doing. Do you know the rate of crime in USA today? I mean sophisticated crime and not Nigerians children crime, still they grade themselves as the greatest.
We have to be mindful of our words and protect our citizen as a nation. This deportation might be you or your brother tomorrow.

  12. Let be honest with you all, Ghanaians are very devilish, I mean it, I know a lot of Ghanaians who are into fraud and prostitution, please have you people seen anyone of them on the internet? Where Nigeria girls use to stand and hustle is very close to where ghana girls also stand and hustle, I have never seen ghana police go close to the Ghanaians, they go and take money from the Nigerian girls everyday, if they don’t pay they arrest and deport them for prostitution, Ghanaians are bad people, people should not go there, OK now they are arresting Chinese men relating to illegal mining, what about the ghana men who head the deal, they don’t have problems with them, you see, this people are very wicked, people should stop going to ghana, I really feel sorry for Nigeria as a nation any small thing police will post any small thing efcc will post, any small thing president will openly condemn, any crime that happens in Ghana, the police know the truth, but they will claim is a Nigerian who did it, now there is one market where we buy something, do you know that the security man stole the women food items the next day these women kept quite, I ask my customers why she did not report or confront the man, she said she leave it for God, so I said I never knew that Ghanaians use to steal oh, do you know how many Ghanaians are into prostitution? Ranging from 12 to whatsoever they start prostitution early because the ghana man is lazy and lack the ability to train their children. Can you talk of ashaiman where the highest ghana criminals are. Have you seeb there police go there one day no. I really share tears for Nigeria and bad leader.
