Panic As Suspected Herdsmen Behead Man In Yenagoa Bayelsa State

A man identified as Alexander Diri was allegedly attacked and killed by suspected herdsmen on Monday. The incident happened around the Zarama-Yambiri community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

The lifeless body of the deceased, who was said to be 49 years old, was discovered on Tuesday near the Zarama Market junction on the East-West Road. The reason for the murder of the victim, who was said to be an indigene of the area, could not be ascertained. However, sources have claimed that his assailants stabbed him multiple times and beheaded him.

The incident has sparked protests in the area, as some angry youths from the community mobilized to the scene and blocked the Zarama-Mbiama section of the East-West Road for several hours. The protest resulted in gridlock and disrupted vehicular movement, leaving many travelers stranded.

The authorities have confirmed the incident, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the culprits behind the murder.

The Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident and promised that the perpetrators would be brought to book.

The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in Bayelsa State, as many residents are now living in fear due to the increase in cases of violent crimes in the area.

The government has been urged to take proactive measures to address the security challenges in the state and ensure the safety of lives and properties of citizens.
