Here Are Some Ways Successful Nigerians Make Smart Decisions
They set specific goals
Knowing exactly what you want is the key. Setting specific goals helps you achieve and get results. Splitting big tasks into smaller chunks also makes you focus on making every part a success. This helps you work on each small, specific goal at a time.
They follow one course at a time
Going through a path at a time is very paramount as it helps channel all energy towards seeing it through. Successful Nigerians don’t do so many things at a time, they pick only one area of interest and build their expertise in that direction. It’s a good practice to focus on only one course at a time.
They take action
Dreaming alone won’t give you success. You have to go out and put your hands to work. Most times we keep imagining and watching the future in our heads. As much as that helps you figure out what you want, you also have to back it up with action. You can either take up a job, become an entrepreneur, head towards the gym, consult the successful, e.t.c. Success comes to the person who desires it and takes action to make it a reality.
They are very intentional
You have to be intentional to be successful. Every act should be with intention. There should be a reason why you act, feel or do something. If you want to learn something, it’s best to connect and learn from someone who has “been there”. Do strategic things every day that will move you closer to your goal.
They keep showing up
You don’t need talents or special abilities to show up. Just keep showing up and be present always. Successful Nigerians learn, practice, experiment till they achieve their goals. They keep doing what they can do best till they get noticed.
They learn from mistakes
The manner at which we respond to our problems matter a lot. Nigerians who are successful see mistakes as a call for improvement. When you perceive mistakes wrongly, it stops you from learning and trying again. The more mistakes you make, the more skilled and experienced you become. Try new waters, develop your capacity and focus on getting better at what you do.
Their choice of friends
Your choice of friends can either make or mar you. Your closest association determine who you will be. You have to choose your circle carefully, they can lift you up or drag you down. Surround yourself with people who encourage and bring out the best in you. Stop associating with weeds.
They aren’t easily influenced by others
Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has opinions but it is up to you to accept them. Successful Nigerians listen to others but they rely on their own mind to lead the way. If you are easily influenced by other people, you won’t be able to make decisions that suit you best. You have to think for yourself to be able to make smart decisions.
They decide quickly and firmly
Ability to reach decisions quickly is very important. You should be able to make decisions as fast as you can. Some decisions only pay off when you make them quick, and any form of delay might make you lose out on your aim. When making decisions in the heat of the moment, think thoroughly and outline the possibilities before going for it.
They are confident in themselves
Success comes to the person who is sure about what he or she can do. Mastery of your niche makes you confident and unwavering. Stop doubting your abilities as no one else can do it better than you can. Being aware of this helps make decisions that can lead you to the top.
They celebrate every achievement
For every achievement, pat yourself on the back. Successful Nigerians choose to be happy over every progress made. Rejoice over an accomplished task, and draw lessons from it whenever you need to make a similar decision.
They choose to weather through the storm
Winners never quit and quitters never win. To be a success, you need to learn to keep going when the going gets tough. At the other end of every problem is a reason to smile, but you can only get there if you keep being persistent.
They think well before making irreversible decisions
There are some types of decisions that cannot be reversed, i.e. they cannot be changed. You should make these decisions carefully and slowly with lots of consideration and consultations. Once an irreversible decision is made, there is no going back. For example, it could be a decision to sell your house, take a loan, quit a job, book a flight ticket, have a child, e.t.c.
They make easily reversible decisions fast
There are other decisions that can be reversed, changed or altered,i.e. what to wear, attending an event, picking up a side hustle, e.t.c. They aren’t big and major, so it makes them easy to change. First decide if a decision falls into this category, then make and execute it as fast as you can. Make more of these decisions and learn from experience.
They see failure as a stepping stone
The way you see failure determines the strength with which you keep running the race. Regard failure as the price you pay for progress. Don’t be afraid to fail. Approach decisions with an experimental attitude, which means you can either fail or succeed. If you fail, learn from the mistakes and try again with renewed energy. But if you succeed, applaud your efforts and rejoice over the achievement.
Parting note
Those who reach decisions promptly and definitely, know what they want, and make sure to get it. The world makes things happen for people whose words and actions show that they know where they are going.
