Empire star Jussie Smollett who hired two Nigerians to stage an homophobic attack on him has finally surrendered himself to police.
The controversial actor is now facing a felony charge for filing a false police report.
Chicago Police spokesman said Smollett is currently in the custody of detectives.
His lawyer said the actor has the right to be seen as innocent until he is proven guilty.
Smollett’s bail hearing will take place later today.
