The death toll of meningitis outbreak in Sokoto has risen to 41.
This was declared by the state health commissioner, Dr Kakale Balarabe.
In a chat with newsmen in Sokoto today, he said the outbreak which started on the 20th of March has claimed 41 lives with over 600 still in hospital.
According to him, the Local Government Areas worst hit by the killer disease include Bodinga, Kebbe, Wamakko, Kware, Tureta, Rabah, Gada and Dange/Shuni.
He added that “C” strain of meningitis is deadlier than ebola disease as it kills within four to six hours of afflicting a patient.

But meningitis is not new to Nigeria. How come the vaccines were not handy for ready use to avert the outbreak getting out of hand ? This is very disturbing.
