Mercy Aigbe Gentry Debunks Poor English Rumour, Refuses To Explain Why She Missed Hosting BON Awards

Few weeks to last year’s edition of Best of Nollywood award, Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe and comedian Okey Bakkassi were announced as the anchors of the event.

However, the Nollywood actress disappointed her fans and the event organisers when she refused to show up at the highly anticipated show.

Weeks after the event, there were speculations that the actress backed out at the last minute because her poor English could disgrace her in front of the crowd as she mostly features in Yoruba movies.

But when Saturday Beats reached out to her, the mother of two said she wouldn’t comment on why she was missing in action.

  1. why r we braggin about english self, how many of these english speaking counties can speak igbo, hausa,or yoruba?. naija we like photocopy too much.

    • @buzu-k that’s very true, TOO MUCH PHOTOCOPY AND FAKE FAKE LIFESTYLE!.
EVEN COPIED DIVORCES INTO THE CELEBRITIES FAMILY.
We Nigerians never be proud of what we have.

  2. You cannot measure the worth of a person by the way he or she speaks another man’s language. Any “offence” arising from her non- show at the event is between her and the organizers of same to iron out and if fans paid to attend the function just to see the lady, let. Them address their grievances to the organizers of the show for refund or damages .

  3. EITHER YOU KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH OR NOT WHO CARES.

ENGLISH IS NOT YOUR PAPA AND MAMA LANGUAGE
EVEN THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH BECAUSE SHE IS A GERMANY AND SHE CAN NOT SPEAK NIGERIAN LANGUAGE.

MERCYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO ALL THESE MOTHERFUCKERS WHO THINK YOU MUST KNOW IT ALL.

AS FOR ME, I AM VERY BAD IN ENGLISH,
SOMETIME I WONDER IF I EVER GO TO SCHOOL BECAUSE I SPEAK USELESS ENGLISH .

I AM ALSO OLODO RABATAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AH AH AH

THERE ARE SOME FOOTBALLERS WHO DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH. EVEN OUR PRESIDENT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH PROPERLY AH AH AH AH

MERCY, WHENEVER YOU NEED TO GO OUT THERE,

YOU NEED TO WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY ,

WHEN THEY ASK YOU QUESTION THAT IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU, JUST SAY TO THEM THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPEAK ABOUT THAT.

OR I AM NOT HERE FOR THAT. NO COMMENT. AH AH AH I AM ALSO MADAM OLODORABATA.

  4. What a shame! Black people and their inferiority complex. So quick to throw away their culture and language. We should be more ashamed of not knowing how to speak our own language. A french man will speak English so badly with pride. Spanish people will tell you quickly no habla ingles, no shame, no wahala! They will even correct you if you pronounce their names without the Spanish flare. We are the only group of ppl that’ll join the white man to miss pronounce our own name or change it entirely to accommodate them. Foolishness! Knowing how to speak English does not mean you’re more educated or posh. Any fool can learn English, it is everywhere! Don’t let me write a book here. This topic pisses me off so much!!!

    • You really spoke my mind…I remember going to a store in the United and I started speaking my yoruba language to my son to mysurpris my friend told me I no get shame…too bad Nigerians an fake life

  5. If you feel Mercy Aigbe speaks poor English, please invite
Odunlade Adekola and Alabi Pasuma as anchors of the event.
