UBTH Staff, Nigerian Doctor Osasogie Ogbeide Found Dead In Benin Hotel, Suicide Suspected

Edo police today confirmed the death of Doctor Osasogie Ogbeide, a staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital Radiology Department.

According to State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, the deceased was found in a lifeless state facing down on his bed at a hotel in Benin city Edo state on Sunday.

Here is what Odumosu told reporters today.

“The doctor checked into a hotel on Saturday and was not seen going out on Sunday nor did anyone visit him, so, the door was forced open on Sunday.

“He was found lying face down on bed. The bed sheet was not even ruffled. There was also a bottle of soft drink in the room.

“There was no sign of struggle or anything on him. We are looking into a case of suicide or suffocation,” he said.

Autopsy is currently being conducted on Ogbeide’s corpse.
