Jan 7, 2013 – Nigerian Factory Worker Arrested For Setting Colleagues On Fire In Lagos

A Nigerian factory worker at Amuwo Odofin, Moses Ayogu, has been arrested by the police in Lagos State, for allegedly setting six of his colleagues on fire, leading to the death of two of them and seriously injuring four others, now on admission in the hospital.

According to the police prosecutor, the two victims who died in the fire attack are Lawrence Onyejekwe and John Omeren while four others, Chijioke Anayo, Titus Terkuve, Hope Effiong and Emmanuel Philip were badly burnt.

The 25-year old Ayogu allegedly sprayed insecticide on the victims and struck a match which ignited fire that burnt them badly. The incident happened after Ayogu had a quarrel with them. The two victims died before they got to the hospital while the other four were admitted and are still receiving treatment at Apapa General Hospital.

The management of the company promptly handed over Moses to the police at Festac Division. He is now facing a murder charge at an Apapa Magistrate’s Court in Lagos .

The police alleged that the offence he committed was contrary to sections 22 and 249 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

His plea was not taken when the matter came up at the court.

The presiding Chief Magistrate ordered that the matter be transferred to Kirikiri Magistrate’s Court for proper arraignment. He was remanded in Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, Lagos.

  1. This is a false news as it is questionable 1.Is it that the 6 boys were sleeping dt they watched just one person at a close range spray them wt insectiside and lite them up? 2. Is it that the guy charmed the 6 of them? 3. Is it that the 6 boys are disables that they can’t fight back? If these questions bears the answer NO. Then i disbelieve this nonsense.

  2. @ife not evry1 knows that insecticides are inflammable likewise deodorants. They might ve stood their grounds nd called his threat bluff while they were arguing, which resulted to two of them dead nd the rest injured.
