Upholding The Crown’s Value: A Call To The Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi
Dear Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi,
We write this open letter to you with the utmost respect and reverence for your esteemed position as the custodian of the rich Yoruba culture and the revered Ooni stool. It is our sincere intention to address a growing concern that has been brought to our attention, regarding the attendance of events by monarchs and the potential impact it may have on the dignity and stature of the Ooni of Ife.
We recognize and appreciate the significance of your role as a representative of the Yoruba people and a symbol of our cultural heritage. The Ooni of Ife holds a unique position in our society, embodying the wisdom, traditions, and values that have shaped our community for generations. It is this sacred responsibility that sets you apart from the commoners and elevates your role to that of a revered leader.
While it is understandable that as a monarch, you may feel compelled to attend numerous events and engage with the public, it is crucial to consider the potential consequences of such actions. The frequency of attendance at various events, particularly those that are commonplace and do not necessarily align with the gravity and significance of your position, can inadvertently dilute the aura and impact of the Ooni stool.
Traditionally, the presence of a monarch at an event carries immense weight and symbolism. It serves as a reminder of the authority and wisdom bestowed upon you by your ancestors and the respect that is accorded to the position you hold. However, when attendance becomes overly frequent, it can diminish the specialness and exclusivity associated with the presence of the Ooni of Ife.
Furthermore, attending events that are of lesser significance or not directly related to your role as a monarch may invite disrespectful behavior and disregard for the customs and protocols that should govern interactions with the Ooni. This can erode the reverence and honor that should be accorded to you, undermining the very essence of your position and the traditions you represent.
It is essential, therefore, to strike a balance between engagement with the public and maintaining the dignity and reverence of the Ooni stool. By being selective in the events you attend and prioritizing those that align with the gravity of your position, you can reinforce the significance of your presence and the importance of the Ooni of Ife in our society.
We urge you, dear Ooni, to consider the long-term impact of attending events and to focus on those that truly reflect the weight and importance of your role. Let us remember that the power and influence of the Ooni of Ife lie not in frequent appearances at all events but in the wisdom, guidance, and leadership you provide to the Yoruba people.
We write this open letter with the utmost respect and concern for the preservation of the dignity and stature of the Ooni of Ife. We implore you to reflect on the impact of attending events and to be mindful of the potential consequences on the reverence and honor associated with your position.
May your reign be marked by wisdom, grace, and a steadfast commitment to upholding the rich traditions and values of our esteemed Yoruba culture.
Yours sincerely,
Concerned Citizens of Nigeria.

This is a message the Ooni and his media team must read. Please respect your stool and stop disgracing it. I will send this to him now.

I was taken by surprise when I saw the video of the actors disrespecting him. He needs to be taught how to value the stool that originally belongs to his elder brother.

He doesn’t know the value of that crown until he is dethroned.
