Police Kill Dreaded Kidnapper, Arrest 3 Others In Delta State Hotel

On Sunday, a team of police officers from the Delta State Police Command successfully eliminated one suspected kidnapper while three others were arrested with various gunshot injuries. The police team also managed to seize one AK-47 rifle, one locally-made double-barrel gun, 18 rounds of ammunition, and a suspected stolen GLK Benz from the suspects. The operation took place at a hotel in Agbarho, located in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

The police force had been alerted to the kidnapping and armed robbery operations in Ughelli, Warri, and surrounding areas, leading the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Johnson Adenola, to mandate all divisional police officers in the command to gather intelligence and tackle the issue. On Sunday at around 1 PM, the command received information that members of an armed robbery gang that had snatched one AK47 rifle from a police officer and kidnapped and killed one Godspower Emmanuel after collecting N400,000 ransom were seen at a hotel in Agbarho.

CSP Aliyu Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer of Aladja Division, mobilised and led detectives to the area in search of the suspects. Upon sighting the police from their hideout, the suspects reportedly opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the shooting, one of the suspects identified as Felix alias ‘OBJ’ was shot and later confirmed dead at the hospital, while three other suspects – Stephen Precious (19), Godstime Sunday (28), and Apene Prince (28) – were arrested with varying degrees of bullet injuries.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, listed the exhibits recovered from the suspects. These included an AK 47 rifle with breech no. 19617, 18 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an English double-barrel gun, 11 Android phones, two button phones, a long knife, a suspected stolen white-coloured GLK Mercedes Benz with number plate YAB 733 BK, two bottles of codeine, and two wraps of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp. The police officers involved in the operation are currently working on getting more information on the suspects’ activities and possible connections.
