Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Emerges Winner of 2023 Presidential Election, Defeats Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has emerged as the winner of the 2023 Presidential election, polling 8,739,249 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 6,954,286 votes to emerge as the runner-up.

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, came third with a total of 5,702,043 votes. It is expected that Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, will be presented with Certificates of Return later today.

The election was keenly contested with a high voter turnout recorded across the country. As the results were being collated and announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), tensions rose among supporters of the various political parties.
