Yoruba Nation Protesters Arrested In Ikeja Lagos Over Planned Event
The Lagos State Police have apprehended a number of individuals suspected to be part of the Yoruba Nation movement in the Alausa area of the state. The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, announced this via a tweet on Sunday.
The self-determination group had gathered in the Alausa region of Ikeja, the state capital, to establish a base for a large-scale protest advocating for the separation of the Yoruba people.
In a twitter briefing on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, the spokesperson provided the following statement:
“Earlier today, a group of Yoruba Nation agitators attempted to set up a camp in Alausa for the purpose of launching a major demonstration. The camp was swiftly removed and the agitators were arrested. The investigation is ongoing at the state Criminal Investigation Department. Disorderly behavior will not be tolerated.”
