Aug, 23, 2011-Air Nigeria Acquires News Boeing 737-400 Series Aircraft
LAGOS—In continuation of its drive to consolidate on its regional and domestic route network, Air Nigeria has taken delivery of a modern Boeing 737-400 series aircraft to bring its current fleet size to 11.
The Boeing 737-400 series aircraft, with registration 5N-VNM, has two class configurations, comprising 12 Business and 133 Economy class seats.
The arrival of the additional aircraft is also coming on the heels of the commencement of the airline’s flight operations to Sao Tome, which started August 18, 2011.
Management of the airline restated its commitment to maintaining global best practices in the aviation industry by ensuring that aircraft in its fleet conformed to civil aviation regulatory requirements and contracts the most reputable aircraft maintenance firms to support the maintenance of its fleet.
Air Nigeria recently won the “Airline of the Year 2010” at the Nigeria Aviation Awards, NIGAV, in recognition of its outstanding contributions towards the development of the Nigerian aviation industry. The airline was also last year named the Best Security Conscious Airline in West and Central Africa by Security Watch Africa for its strict adherence to prescribed aviation safety standards.
