A jilted lover, who could not control his anger at the heartbreak, has taken the laws into his hands by pouring raw acid on his estranged lover’s two eyes.

Musiliu Olokode, the jilted 32-year old resident of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has been arraigned before Yaba Magistrate’s court after he was arrested over the attack on 27-year old Latifat Adesope.

We gathered that doctors reportedly confirmed that she is now permanently blind because of the impact of the acid on her eyes.

The incident happened at Aboru area of the state where they both resided. Olokode is now facing a three-count charge of felony, attempted murder and grievous harm on the victim.

We learnt that the cause of the quarrel which has now left Latifat with permanent disability was her decision to quit the relationship.

She said when Olokode threatened to deal with her, she thought it was a mere threat, adding that she had decided to leave him because of the trauma she was passing through in the relationship.

She said she told him that she was no longer interested and even advised him to go for another woman.

On the day the incident happened, Olokode was said to have laid ambush for her in the morning and poured the substance on her two eyes before fleeing from the scene.

He was later arrested and charged to court.

The offence the police said he committed was contrary to Sections 243 and 228 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

The presiding Magistrate, O. A. Ogala, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum when he pleaded not guilty.

He then adjourned the case till 10 July, 2012 while remanding the accused in prison custody at Ikoyi, Lagos pending when he would meet his bail condition.
