June 22, 2012 – This terrible mishap which happened in Ido Ekitis very heart breaking when a 25 year old teacher by the name of Rafat Agbola beheads her husband Mr Olatunji Agbola while he was sleeping.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was said to have committed the offence on June 12 at 12 a.m. at Temidire Street, Usi-Ekiti in Ido-Ekiti Magisterial District.
It further said that the accused unlawfully caused the death of her 32-year old husband by cutting him with a cutlass while he was sleeping.
The accused was said to have committed an offence punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 77, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990.
The defence counsel, Mrs. Itu Mohammed, pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to enable her study the case file.
The prosecutor, Corporal Ewuola Ebenezer, urged the court to remand the accused in prison because it was a capital offence.
Magistrate Bayode Owoeye ordered the accused to be remanded at Ado- Ekiti prison and adjourned the case to July 4.
