Feb 2nd, 2013 – Biography Of Nigerian Gospel Singer Olufunmbi Araromi Aka Funmbi Unique

Here is a detail biography of Nigerian gospel singer Funmbi Araromi aka Funmbi Unique

I was born two decade ago into the family of Prof and Mrs Araromi and I am the last born of a family of six. My parents hail from Ondo state. I was born in Ibadan and as well live in Ibadan. I attended E.M. Kinderland Nursery and Primary School Poly road and United Secondary School Ijokodo, Ibadan for my primary and secondary education respectively. Thereafter I proceeded to Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye where I studied physics. Presently I am a graduate of physics.

The inspiration has been on ground right from my childhood in which I have been writing and composing songs. Prior to this time I graduated from the University, I have had much interest in music, In fact during my childhood I could remember that I used to sing with my peers. I could remember some years back in my senior secondary education, whenever my teachers taught us in class and gave us scientific laws to cram like the ohm’s law, Newton gravitational law, the hooks law and so on. I used to compose songs with the laws in order not to forget them since I was not good in cramming .

I discovered that God had deposited a virtue in me so I went ahead to develop my interest in music. Also, my performance in some events I had the opportunity of presenting and encouragement from my friends strengthened my interest in being a musician. To the glory of God I have lunched two albums titled House of Glory (Ile-Ologo) and Unique-Feelings which were produced in 2010 and 2012 respectively. My talent of writing songs has also develop me in the aspect of writing and composing poems which are yet to be published.

My source of inspiration
I got inspired by what I see, my experience or people’s experience and also my vision towards a feeling. To round it up God is my real source of inspiration.

How I got to where I am/ my parents reaction?:
Right from my secondary school I had wanted to produce my album but my parents insisted that I should first make education my priority. Though I taught they did not understand my vision towards music not until I rounded up my university education when I knew that they were really in support. They were even the sponsors of my Album titled House of glory ( Ile- Ologo).

*Where will you be in the next five years?:
Ever since I have been in the realm of music, my vision is to touch this generation and generation to come. So in the next five years I wish to be heard all over the world and also be a source of inspiration to others and upcoming artists.

* Who is your role model?:
Academically my daddy, Prof Mac Araromi is my role model while in the field of music any inspired album is my role model.

* The challenges you are facing?: Well, I would say that achievement on earth takes the grace of God. Right from the onset I was faced with some challenges. Primarily, coming out of a family of renowned academics and going into the realm of music would look like an anachronism. Consequently, I saw this as a challenge. Secondly, you know going into the world of unknown is in itself a challenge. Dabbling into the field of music by entering into the studio for the first time is a big challenge because of the fear of the unknown.

Also, in the aspect of marketing there were some challenges I experienced that I would not speak about. Nevertheless, all this is to the glory of God. Things I saw as challenges are now working for me because of my interest and talent and above all because I have remained focused in making my ambition a reality.

*Your best colour?: My best colour is cream.

*Any development: so far about your latest album?:

My new album is out. It is titled “Unique feelings”.
It came out lately last year. It is a kind of album done in a dynamic way. So I do this album to make people to understand the efficacy of praising God as well as importance of prayer and worship. It also described the importance of children to their parents.
My Philosophy of life?:
Though life is ephemeral for all, one can still leave an indelible mark upon the sand of time.

Word of advice?: Never give up on your dream. Ensure that you are focused and determined, avoid distraction, be courageous and always understand what you are born to become. Then you will find yourself getting to the top one day.

Thanks. Olufunmbi araromi.
