Feb 7, 2013 – Battle of the Musical Clans Competion in Lagos Nigeria Debuts
The stage is now set for the maiden edition of Battle of the Musical Clans, a musical competition that will incorporate various aspects of reality entertainment and straight stage competition on TV. The competition is designed to discover the king of Nigeria’s musical clans and will reflect Nigeria’s music culture.
According to organizers, Lagos used to be the musical clan of several leading Hip-hop and contemporary rap artistes, until the arrival of P-Square, from Jos, Nigga-Raw and Flavour from the East, Timaya and Timi Dakolo from the South-South and many from other regions of the federation. This has made it difficult for the debate on who is the King of Nigeria ’s musical Clans is.
“This unique project is divided into 26 musical clans with Lagos having 15 of the clans while the rest of the country will make up the remaining 11 clans. Some of Nigeria’s musical clans include – Festac Town, Ajegunle, Okoko, Ikeja, Surulere, Ajah, VI, Benin, Sapele/Warri (Wafee), Imo/Abia (East- Side) Rivers/Bayelsa (River-Side) Akwa Ibom/, Calabar (Water-Side), Jos, Abuja, Kaduna/ Kano (K- Side),” disclosed Charles Nwafor, creator cum coordinator of the forthcoming reality TV show. Eviction will be based on a combination of factors such as the successful execution of musical tasks, voting from the audience, appraisals from judges and many more.
The judges consists of renowned of stars, those in the academia and practitioners in the entertainment industry. “Battle of the Musical Clans will empower, entertain, discover, project and aid the growth and quality of Nigerian music,” added elated Nwafor.
