Laser Power Systems, a Connecticut-based company is currently working with Cadillac car manufacturer to create an emission and turbine free electric car with thorium laser-powered engine that can last a lifetime.
The vehicle will be powered by Nuclear Thorium lasers that will enable it to need refueling once in a lifetime (every 100 years).
The vehicle named Thorium car will go on sale by 2018.

They look like sophisticated space-craft from movies.
If they last a lifetime and need no re-fueling they are not viable investment for the manufacturers if their durability will make it unnecessary for customers to buy the cars more often. Let’s wait and see how it will work out. Congratulations to the manufacturers all the same.
