July 24, 2014 – Enugu Deputy Governor Impeached For Operating Poultry Farm In Official Quarters, Government House
Any moment from now, the Deputy Governor of Enugu state will be impeached for violating the law of the land.
Yesterday, 22 out of the 24 members of the Enugu State House of Assembly passed a resolution to impeach him.
Sunday Onyebuchi has been served an impeachment notice for rearing poultry in his official quarters on contrary to Feb 12 2013 resolution which ‘prohibited the maintenance and operation of a commercial livestock and poultry farms within residential neighborhoods in Enugu Metropolis in promotion of public health standards’
He was also accused of mocking the State Government after he invited Pressmen to the commercial poultry farm being operated by him inside the government house.
The impeachment notice reads:
“Consequent upon the intimidation of the relevant officials of the government by the Deputy Governor in respect of the matter aforesaid, the governor of Enugu State (herein after referred to as “ the Governor via letters with reference numbers : GHE/CAO/31/239 and GHE/CAO/31/240 dated 24/12/2013 and 27/12/2013 respectively, directed the Deputy Governor to relocate the commercial poultry farm out of the premises of his official residential quarters , which is also within the general premises of the Government House Enugu and adjacent to the Governor’s office.
“The Deputy Governor further defied the directive herein and in a most discourteous manner and in utter disregard of the office of the governor, responded via a letter dated 8/1/2014, insisting that he would not relocate his commercial poultry farm from the premises of his official residential quarters.
“When the government through the appropriate Ministries and departments relocated the birds and cleared the premises of the noxious stench emanating therefrom, the Deputy Governor wrongfully deployed the resources and powers of his office as deputy governor to invite the press and openly castigated the government and her officials, thereby impugning and denigrating the authority and office of the governor and embarrassing the government.”

Not enough reason to impeached him, nonsense! Where they not in the same premises when he started the poultry farm? why didn’t they ask him to stop when he was about to start? The birds are big enough for consumption, Why is the impeachment coming now? They don’t have enough evidence to impeached him so they should go and address other burning issues in the state and leave the business man alone.

y wont he do dat wen de std govt does nt regard him as a human being, de man was thinking on wat 2 do so dat he can disturb de whole area so he came up wth dis knowing dat de odour alone can do de work. So pple of enugu go n make tins rite wth ur d/g else dis time expect smtin dat is worser dan dis.

Do not blame him maybe he never think of becoming deputy governor .his dream might be a commercial farming. He must have become deputy governor through Nigerian factor .Oga we go wash am o : we are expecting your frozen chicken in the market very soon.

i think this deputy governor has a lot to contribute in boosting the Nigeria agricultural sector than being in government house, let him pursue his career than being a politician, we are tired of imported frozen chicken and turkey.
