Oct 8, 2011 – FG Re-assures Nigerinas On Steady Supply Of Electricity
The federal government has put in place adequate measures to ensure adequate power generation, transmission and distribution, Vice President Namadi Sambo has said.
Sambo made the disclosure on Friday in Abuja when members of the Board and Management of the Academy for Entrepreneurial Studies visited him at the State House.
He said that the use of generators for electricity supply would soon become history in view of the huge investments in the power sector, adding that Nigerians had started witnessing improved electricity supply across the country.
“I want to assure you that we are doing everything to see that by the end of the day that the power sector is handed over to competent, experienced companies that would be able to meet our objectives of ensuring that we have adequate power in this country,” he said.
“We have good management of our power system and that this issue of generators will be history. In this regard, we are doing everything to encourage the private sector.”
On the issue of security, Sambo said the federal government was doing all it could to address security challenges to boost socio-economic activities in the country.
He said that the federal government would also look into the possibility of partnering with state governments in providing surveillance to enhance security of lives and property in the country. (Daily Times)
