May 16, 2016 – Nollywood Actress Funke Etti: I Was A Muslim But Gave My Life To Christ At RCCG Redemption Camp

By NaijaGists.com

In a recent chat with Ademola Olonilua, Nollywood actress Funke Etti who was once a Muslim narrated how she gave her life to Christ after Pastor E.A Adeboye made an altar call at the Redemption Camp on Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

See excerpts:

Interviewer: You come from an Islamic background; at what point in your life did you convert to Christianity?

Funke Etti: That was about 12 years ago. I was at the Redemption Camp and Daddy G.O asked those who wanted to give their lives to Christ to come out. So I stepped forward. My mother was a Christian while my father was a Muslim but they did not force me to pick a religion, I decided on my own.

When I was a Muslim, I enjoyed it and found it interesting. I prayed five times a day and fasted when I was supposed to. Now that I am a Christian, I follow the Christian way.

  1. From your tone, I doubt if you know the difference. You sound like someone who would conviniently port back to Islam anytime tomorrow, and back again to Christianity at will. I just hope I am very-very wrong.

  2. Good luck lady.

You know in Christianity, everything goes. There is not set of divine rules in place anymore. It’s all done with. Nyetu and Maryfcan be very correct though.

      • AMANDA MY DEAR, I’M NOT INSECURE AT ALL…I’M JUST CONTRIBUTING TO THE FORUM, YOU DON’T HAVE TO RESPOND TO MY POST..
        STAY BLESSED

  3. Ola the philospher! How far? What I have to tell you is that it takes as much faith to disbelieve in religion as to believe in the same. I hope the Holy Spirit arrests you before it is too late.

  4. @METU NYETU, I’M DOING VERY WELL ACTUALLY, THANKS FOR ASKING..WELL, FOR ME, ALTHOUGH IF TOOK MANY YEARS..ALL IT TOOK WAS A LITTLE CURIOSITY,PLENTY OF RESEARCH AND BASIC COMMON SENSE, BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE BIBLE THAT TURNED ME OFF FROM THE IDEAL OF GOD AND RELIGION MORE THAT ANYTHING ELSE…FAITH HAS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT FOR ME….

  5. Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as ******, and by rulers as useful. – anonymous

  6. “Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” – BUDDHA

  7. Its what is in your heart that matters. how you treat others and your environment. if you like sleep in church or mosque 24/7 and after you go and engage in evil then you will surely get your just desert whether you like it or not. From what i have seen in life and what is happening in our continent it is clear that both main religions have not emancipate us instead it is being used as a repressive tool by the same people who are purporting to be pious. It does not take a genius to see through the manipulations, but because of societal pressures coupled with our lack of social justice system many people look to religion as source of comfort and security.

  8. You are welcome to the fold of Christ, please hold him firm because he is the way, the truth and the light. God bless you dear

  9. Brother Ola, pause a while and think! If there is God, if He is the One who created the mighty oceans and their terrible currents; if He is the One that created the boundless space and all the known and yet unknown forces of nature; if He is the one that made man with all his characteristic features and made him a curious being, you have to understand that you can never approach that kind of Being with the fickle, appalingly foolish, myopic wisdom of men. If you seek God thinking that you are already wise, disppointment and frustration would be you lot. That is why the bible aptly says that you must be like child to be a Christian.

Now, assuming that man’s wisdom would ever be helpful here, let’s just consider the best theory that any man, by his carnal wisdom, has ever put forward on this subject: Pascal’s Wager. Have you heard about it before? You may want to google that if your answer is negetive. Blaise Pascal(1623–62) was a French philosopher, Physicist and Mathematician: the kind of people you respect.

You have to agree with me that if God exists, a-hundred-tonne doubt from you would never make Him disappear. Again, if God does not exist, a mountain-size faith in me would not create Him. But it is a greater risk to doubt His existence and live your life anyhow you choose, only to find out at last that He is there, and His wrath blazing to deal with you. If is safer to believe, so that in the end, if He does exist, you gain; but if He doesn’t, you lose nothing.

Even though this is a gambler’s ideology, it is better than an outright, stiff-necked disbelief. However, this is not how God wants His people to worship Him—with guesses, doubts and uncertainties. The bible says that whoever must worship God must first of all BELIEVE that He Exists(Hebrews 11:6). There is no room for doubts here.

  10. Christ is d only way, d truth and d life…
U will really give d great testimony if u really accepted christianity with a true heart..
Bcos 4rm ur tone of speech am just wondering otherwise.
