July 8, 2012- Gunmen Kill Osogbo Businessman, Rasheed Bolarinwa
Mr Rasheed Bolarinwa, a well known Osogbo businessman and hotelier, was, yesterday night killed by armed hoodlums in his bedroom.
The no fewer than seven robbers reportedly invaded the late Bolarinwa’s residence in the Alekuwodo area of Osogbo and demanded huge money after they had searched the house.
He was said to have failed to give them money and was thereafter shot dead in the presence of his wife, Yetunde, and children.
The widow, Yetunde, explained that the armed robbers entered into her husband’s bedroom after breaking one of the windows in the house and later went to the living room where they carted away some belongings.
She said all attempts by the family to get help from residents of the area failed while the robbery lasted.
She said: “The armed robbers positioned themselves in strategic locations in the area and therefore, it was impossible for our neighbours to help us when we shouted for help.”
The 45-year-old Bolarinwa and his wife jointly owned the popular Yetty Hotel and Yetty Mama Restaurant in Osogbo.
It was gathered that the robbers shot sporadically into the air on arrival to scare away night guards in the area.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs Kalafite Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the police were investigating the matter, with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
She said: “We are aware of the ugly incident perpetrated by some culprits in the society and I can assure you that they cannot run away from justice. The police are on the trail of those who perpetrated the dastardly act and we are sure that very soon they will be brought to justice.”
