The Senator representing Anambra North senatorial district Princess Stella Oduah has called on Nigerians to cling to Caution against the fast spreading Lassa Fever.
She urged them to imbibe the culture of maintaining a clean environment to avoid further spread of the Lassa Fever as already reported in various states of the Federation.
“Maintaining a clean environment is key to avoiding the fast spreading Lassa haemorrhagic fever.
“Avoiding close contact and reporting suspected victims to the nearest Health Centre will also help to curb it’s further spread.
“It is important for us to key into the ongoing sensitization campaign by the Ministry of Health and eventually, the disease will become a thing of the past. She said
Oduah concluded by advising all Nigerians especially in Rural Areas to get rat killers and other chemicals to enable them get rid of the virus infected rodents.
Outbreak of this disease has been discovered in 11 states of the Federation cutting across all geopolitical zones with over 35 deaths.

@ nijagists, I advise you to advertise this product, D-Con. It is very good. It attracts rats and they come out from everywhere they may be hiding in the house. People dont have to kill them. Just put the poison food (like sand block) parallel to the walls in the house. They will eat and tired. Within a week, you will smell dead rats everywhere.
Just assume I am lying but try it. You will appreciate it. D-con comes with disposable and reusable cases. Disposable ones come ready made (with poison food inside. Reusable can be refilled. The problem is that rats in Nigeria are big so they wont fit neither reusable nor ready-made. The best thing to do is to buy quantity of D-Cons not in containers. They are like cubes (square, rectangular and hexagonal shapes). With cases, rat enters the case and eat bcus they are small ones in the West. But in Africa it is better to just put the poison food(D-con) on the floor (caution children) and rat will eat them. In less than 2 weeks, you will smell dead rats everywhere.
D-con is water resistant. It is good for indoors and outdoors. Rats must come out wherever they are and eat. Very effect. I guess you should try it first if you have rats problems and then recommend it to marketers.

The poison prescribed by the senator can harm human being as well, the best solution is to recommend that every household should have at least one CAT pet depending on the size of their domain. Our house in the village is very large with all manners of antiquated loads some bought before I was born, and then there no single rat because of the presence of cats. Federal Ministry of Health pls take note!
