August 1st, 2015 – Nigerian Actress Gloria Young Sues GTB Bank After ATM Refuses To Dispense Money Deducted From Account

Veteran actress, Gloria Young was recently spotted at a bank where she created a scene and it definitely was not for a movie. According to sources, the actress caused commotion at the bank after it failed to refund her N20,000 which was debited since December.

When Saturday Beats reached out to the actress via the telephone, she explained why she blew a fuse in the banking hall.

“I went to use an ATM at Ejigbo, close to NNPC bus-stop in Lagos in December. I wanted to withdraw N20,000 but the machine did not dispense the money after debiting my account. I went to the second machine and it paid me. After six days without hearing a word from the bank, I went to complain. I also went to my bank to report the situation. This was in December. I have gone to them so many times to talk about it but all to no avail.

“Now my lawyer is about to serve them a letter. He has been speaking with them but the bank keeps calling me to beg me instead of paying me my money. The matter has been dragging for too long. I am very angry at my bank because if they cannot fight for me because of N20,000, then they cannot fight for me when it comes to millions of naira. The amount might not sound like a big deal but it can pay some people’s salary. It is not just about me but others who go through similar situations. A letter from my lawyer would soon get to them,” she said.

Good one, Nigerian Banks takes customer service for granted, they are only interested in marketing & operation, the only service you get is when you want to pay in/deposit. but during with drawer or any challenge occur during withdrawer ,it may never get resolve. a dedicated customer service is the solution. #ExperienceSpeaking.

Lady Gloria thank you for stepping out to protect thousands of people who may find themselves in your shoe. As you have indicated, it is not about the money but about other people who may fall in the same trap as you did. That GTB is gradually destroying its business and credibility by failing to inform their customer if there is availability of cash at their ATM machine. In a situation where a customer cannot thrust his/her bank, that is a disaster and beginning of ruination of that bank. It is the responsibility of the Bank to make sure that their ATM can dispense money and functional. In any situation the machine cannot dispense cash, the ATM should be capable of displaying a notification that the machine is temporarily out of service before customers can even insert their ATM card. This sometimes happen in some advance Countries where ATM is commonly use in lieu of walk-in Bank but the difference is, they don’t even let their customers made a complaint before they credit back his/her account because it will show in their system. All credible banks must have insurance against occurrence like this and there is reason why any bank will ask their customers to forget about their hard earn money. Sometimes in Nigeria we are still doing things primitively. Please don’t tell me there is no camera monitoring the business transaction at the ATM center and whether the bank can find out if that lady withdraw money that day. The management of this bank have to come up with better idea by monitoring their ATM, make sure they have enough cash through weekend before the next business day. Also their ATM should be able to display an information to pre-inform before any transaction. If they don’t have these functioning system working, they rather cancel ATM banking. Lady Gloria, go ahead with your lawsuit if they refuse to credit back your account. This bank lacks potential in dealing with customers. You want to say sorry and keep her money and other customers money. Is that how you run banking industry or is that a proper way of making money?. That lady rather dash out the money to the beggars than to let it go to multi-billion naira bank purse again. Are you really making sense GTB?.

For crying out loud, Why is GTB behaving this way? I was supposed to make withdrawal oversea using my mastercard, no cash was dispensed, yet i was debited at least an amount larger than the complainant. I am yet to get my refund as they keep telling me they are still verifying. What if i had no other money on me in a foreign land? It’s rather absurd that the services promised to the public is not given, rather we are being duped of the little savings we have. I dont know why they cant just work on the camera at the dispensing center to view situation of things, if truly they are verifying like they said.

Gtb is a bank I love so much but recently thrive actions is becoming unbecoming, thank God for Gloria who is leaving no stone unturned to deal with them, can u imagine that they did the same thing to me, I bought an airline ticket in the month of April 2015 thru POS, and my money was deducted and I got the ticket and travelled, this same GTbank now deducted my money in the month of July, telling me that it is the money for he ticket I bought in April. I think they have a lot of fraudster working with the. Now. Dedicated staffs are no more in that bank. I rather go bank to union or Wema bank than allow all dis smart thieves to ruin me.
