June 17, 2016 – Osas Ighodaro Ajibade: Why My Mother Warned Me To Keep My Pregnancy Secret

Excerpt from Osas Ighodaro Ajibade’s chat with Genevieve Magazine

‘It is a very sensitive period for us especially with my older sister passing away from malaria when she was with child. My mum is really protective and she is on board with my keeping this pregnancy a secret,’.

‘Losing a child is not easy on any parent so I understand why she is being protective. She even shared with me some Benin superstitions like putting a pin on my clothes to ward off evil and never telling anyone how far gone I am in my pregnancy and I am following her instructions to the letter. We know the culture we are in. Let’s be real, there are bad belle people out there so to protect this blessing we are going to enjoy this moment privately.‘

‘This is my first child and I do not want people’s opinions or judgement at this time. I want to take back that power from the public and enjoy my pregnancy with all its challenges. Unfortunately, I am aware that this is the industry I signed up for and people will always judge,’ .

  1. Granting an interview about your pregnancy doesn’t make it secret any longer.
In fact, you’ve revealed far too much for even an apprentice witch to make needed deductions.
All you should have told the interviewer when asked about your pregnancy was: I don’t want to talk about it now; I’ll talk when the time is right.
May God be with you all through.

  2. Its well with you my sister. Wishing you a safe delivery, and thats against all odds.

We are Africans and we are not ingnorant of the presence and devices of the evil forces used by evil men to inflicts pains problems and even deaths on other innocent unsuspecting fellows.

Though, some people will come up here and pretenciously claim they don‘t believe in any superstition when back in their villages, their fathers are devoted Idol worshippers.

God is not responsible for everything thats happening in our lives whether you believe it or not. If not so then what‘s the works of the devil? Its like saying the devil does not exist or that even if it exists, it does nothing. Its that it?

I want to believe that, if its not good, then its not God.

    I take a stroll…

  3. Your mom said you should keep your pregnancy secret. Why are you granting interview about it and even exposing your mom protection charm on your cloth? I wish you what ever you wish yourself.

  4. Lol but u hv just break up d so call secret…
Dis z d best active way to announce smtin to d world hearing if u don’t know.

  5. Why didn’t you follow the advice of your mom? You have already exposed yourself. There is no secret about your pregnancy any more. When an elderly person sits down , no matter how tall the child is while standing, the elder will still be taller. Your mom is full of wisdom and she definitely has much more experience of life more than you. Don’t be like a dog that refuses to adhere to the whistle of the hunter.

  6. This osas girl always want to be relevant,if e be like say her vibes Don dry she go just by force come talk wetin nor dey road. Na waoh .the oda day she say she nor ready for pregnancy wetin ear nor go hear self.abeg park well joor.
