PHCN to Release Names Of Major Debtors in Eko
Oct 16,2011 – The Eko Distribution Zone of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has threatened to publish names of major debtors in the zone.
Oladele Amuda, the Chief Executive Officer of the zone, said that customers in the zone owed N8 billion as at September this year and efforts to recover the debts had proved abortive.
He said that government agencies and the military formations owed about 65 per cent of the debt, adding that over N100 billion was been owed PHCN nationwide.
“Henceforth, the zone will publish all the names of government and military establishment and some organisations and individuals owing the zone,” he said. “We have been empowered by the Presidency to collect all the debts owed by government establishment and military formations. We will not hesitate to publish their names in the dailies after the date given to them to pay us lapses.”
He appealed to consumers to always pay for services rendered to them by the PHCN, adding that the zone had so far deployed about 85, 000 pre-paid metres.(daily times)
