The need to nurture and preserve “sanity, morality and humanity” in our nation informed the decision of the Nigerian Senate to legislate against same-sex marriage and homosexuality, news reports quoted the Senate President David Mark as saying on Tuesday January 8, 2013.

The upper chamber reaffirmed its earlier legislation that homosexuality is tagged with a 14-year jail term in Nigeria. For a while, this correspondent has watched many sour and sorry attempts to outsource and impose moral and spiritual darkness on Nigerians by the eponymous international community {chiefly the USA, the UK and Canada}, some western human rights groups and their powerful media using as sheepish mouth piece our home grown atheists, pseudo liberals, intellectualised cultists and traditional religionists like Professor Wole Soyinka, Douglas Anele, Sabella Abidde, Jimi Disu, Leo Igwe and others. For sundry reasons such as filthy lucre, to burnish their internationalist credentials, in their phobia of Christianity and because they are media heavyweights, these malleable democrats and one-sided human rights advocates noisily trample on the moral, spiritual, democratic and human rights of millions of Nigerians whose worries the Senate factored in its brave anti-homosexuality and same-sex legislation.

The dye in the wool desire by some of these internationalists to be accorded unrestricted access to the western world and its privileged circles have made them accept behaviours that majority of right thinking Africans find greatly offensive. At the vanguard of this infamous gay apologia looms the Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka. For the untarnished records, the Ogbuefi of Nigerian literature is the grand master, chief patron, arch promoter and godfather of Nigeria’s campus cults!

Whenever Professor Soyinka dies and wherever this Capone is buried, the Pirates’ Confraternity which he formed during his undergraduate days at the University of Ibadan and from which all existing campus cults emerged, will be his chief mourner. Logically and naturally, all future campus cults owe everlasting allegiance to this numero uno of many cultic colours. The harvest of destruction that Kongi’s Pirates and its off-shoot cults have visited this nation with is inestimable and indescribable. Out of gratitude, these demonic cults will at his death openly deify this Ake, Ogun State born Ogboni advocate and admirer as a worshipful master.

This inglorious template reduces the relevance of the great literary attainments of Professor Soyinka because man “does not live by bread alone!”  Tolerance or legalization of homosexuality is not the acceptable face of true humanity. Professor Soyinka’s tirade against the 103 senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that “they should go back to schools” for legislating the Anti-Same-Sex Marriage Bill is arrogant, ignorant, biased, dangerous, unexpected and very unfortunate. It simultaneously evidences limited moral capacity in a mind of very great cerebral quotient. What the law makers did was to brand as unlawful a hateful practice that disturbs the moral fibre of majority of Nigerians.

I have heard some of these agents and lobbyists of homosexuality and same sex marriage shout from the roof top that they not gay. It appears as pure semantics to this correspondent because you can be gay by practice or by partnership. Indeed, you can be gay by conviction or by conversion. You can also become a sodomite by impartation or by indoctrination. Fads and fantasy is a recorded highway to Gaydom! As the Bible says, a willful sinner is not a Christian and a Christian is not a perpetual sinner! Because the prosperous metropolitan city states of Sodom and Gomorrah were practitioners of homosexuality {the first in recorded history}, they went up in smoke as punishment, wiped away from humanity by Jehovah God because of this gross abomination – GEN. 19, JUDE 7. God was so angered that He “took away the sodomites out of the land” – 1 KGS. 15:12a.

For ever, Jehovah God damns the propaganda that a “loving relationship” between two gays is acceptable to God – Leviticus 18:22. The Holy Spirit calls this type of lying and defiling love the “lust of the flesh.” Leviticus 18:24-30 is definite that the detestable and abominable practice of homosexuality pollutes and defiles the nations that practices and tolerates it. As a result, the architecture of homosexuality in Sodom became very great “because this sin is very grievous” – GEN. 18:20b. God’s abundant mercy should not be trivialised by elite fifth columnists of homosexuality just because we are in the dispensation of grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. All contrary and ungodly sexual activities such as rape, incest, prostitution, bestiality, child molestation and homosexuality are seen as unnatural and perversion by God and His true saints – Romans 1:21-32.

While the others are a perversion of a natural relationship, advocacy of homosexuality and bestiality elevate sexual impurity to a new unnatural height. The New Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ which did not approve of burning witches alive does not permit homosexuality. Many gullible blind supporters of Gaydom will find themselves in great dilemma when the kingdom of Satan begins its post homosexuality advocacy: Campaign for legalized bestiality! Not all opponents of Gaydom are Christians like this correspondent, but together we feel a great moral burden to pray, speak out and strive against this abomination from receiving legal stamp in Nigeria.

Non-Christians who have great angst against Gaydom have troubled consciences about this onslaught of Satan on their spiritual, human and moral rights. Since Islam forbids eating of pork, can a pious Muslim divide with his teeth what he cannot eat with his mouth? In my beloved Onicha Ugbo birthplace, a proverb has it that no matter how unappealing a vagina maybe, it cannot be compared to a buttock! {Oshu maka ajonjo, yana ike abuzina ofu!}  This correspondent places homosexuality on the same canvass as insanity! Some apologists of Gaydom lay hands on a few pseudo-scientific researches claiming that gays have natural genes which predispose them to that indecency, but they conveniently reject and neglect the works of reputable scientists who are engaged in contrary scholarship.

Someday; rapists, armed robbers, looters of our national treasury, arsonists, terrorists, coup plotters, tribal jingoists, wife beaters, kidnappers, oil pipeline vandals, ritual killers, 419ners, certificate forgers, child molesters, practitioners of domestic violence, policemen who engage in judicial killing and men who bathe wives and girlfriends with acid will locate some dubious “scientific research” that vindicate their wickedness to their fellow humans.

If this gay apologist theory is upheld, then vicious Nazi doctors and medical researchers like Dr Mengele should not be held for the infamy of the horrific experiments they heartlessly carried on Jehovah Witnesses, Christians, political opponents, Gypsies, Jews, homosexuals, blacks, Slavs and other peoples they termed sub-humans. Secularism, the prevailing western religion teaches that humans evolved from primates, but Africans are still racially lampooned as monkeys in the same west.

Equating opposition to same-sex marriage with gender is myopic and diversionary, a panicky response and acquiescence to a depraved, dictatorial western demonic agenda that after legalising prostitution and homosexuality, is sure to campaign for bestiality, incest, pornography, atheism and God banishment in public and private lives as the next bus stop. Why haven’t these western supporters of homosexuality and gay marriage stood up for gender equality, poverty reduction, fair trade terms and loan forgiveness for Africa, prosecution of looters of Africa’s wealth, return of Africa’s stolen wealth in the west, unfettered access for African agriculture and manufactures in western markets, unemployment reduction, economic reparation for centuries of Trans Atlantic and Trans Saharan slavery with the same ferocity which they prosecute and persecute Nigeria for gay legislation? Why have they not put men and materiel to stop or reduce war, massacres, genocide, human rights abuses, violence against women and children in Sudan, Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, Burundi, Nigeria, Libya, Liberia, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone? In ancient Greek, homosexuality was deemed “unnatural.”

Gay advocates correctly tell us that the vile practice was known in a few African countries like Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, northern Congo, Gabon, Lesotho and northern Nigeria, but it was not celebrated. No family then happily gave out a son or daughter in “gay marriage.” That people were aware of homosexuality did not mean that it was popular. South Africa remains the only country in Africa where homosexuality is controversially legal, but this abominable legislation will be overturned after Nelson Mandela dies! For now, it endures among the Madiba’s enormous legacies, but legalising homosexuality remains the low point of his presidency and the huge gap in his glorious public career.

Even though Tinsel Town, Hollywood, the global tourism industry, globalization, music, videos, Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain and President Barack Obama of the USA promotes it, must we be sucked into this evil vortex?  I still have copies of Time and Newsweek magazines of the early 1980s that falsely mocked Africa as a gay paradise! Now, in a hurried demonic reversal, they want Africa to be dressed in the gay linen! It’s unacceptable! The United States $3 million dollars Global Equity Fund to fight for gay legalization is scandalous to say the least. The threat to deny Nigeria development loans and other aids if we don’t legalise homosexuality won’t truly hurt us if we have focused, corrupt free leadership.

The threat of withdrawal of homosexuality tied loans by the USA and the UK against Nigeria amounts to attempted homosexual gang rape of our sovereignty after the order of Sodom – GEN. 19:5. The Nigerian government will do well to emulate Father Abraham who spurned such an offer from the wretched city of Sodom though he well deserved the reward – GEN. 14:21-24. Just as Father Abraham distanced himself from such an evil society, Nigerian leaders must not legalise homosexuality. Lot discovered too late that the well watered scenery from afar called Sodom became the graveyard of his ephemeral prosperity and importance. Opponents of Gaydom may be harassed and hounded by well funded western gay campaigners, but we shall not cave in to their ungodly, indecent agenda. Crimes like murder, rape, stealing and adultery are as old as mankind, but age never gave them societal approval.

It’s the same argument that I make against homosexuality and same sex marriage! Even in the secular west, adultery is no laughing matter in the eyes of the law. In my Anioma environ of Delta State, aged or barren women in the olden days who had no children were traditionally allowed to take wives. But there was no report of these women engaging in lesbianism! Never! Societal values of the time expected their wives to maintain male lovers with whom they had sexual intercourse for purposes of procreation. Majority of the children from these marriages have done very well in marriages, the professions and in Christian ministry.

I don’t know of any among them that is gay! In biblical Israel, the brother of a dead man was expected to father children for him. One man who refused to do so was killed by the Lord for his wickedness {GEN. 38:6-9}. Sarai asked her husband Abram to bear children for her by going into her maid Hagar, but she never indulged in lesbianism with Hagar {GEN. 16:2-4, 15-16}. Homosexual marriage that has no in-built capacity for child bearing is anti-God and anti-humanity, ab initio! Procreation is essential in God’s scheme of things.

The mantra of gays that what “two sane and rationale adults do in private is nobody’s business” did not profit golfer Tiger Woods when his serial adulteries with multiple call girls became public knowledge. Supported by the laws of America, his wife deemed it her business and the cheated woman was awarded a divorce and paid over $100 million in damages. There is no proof that either Tiger Woods or his harem of call girls are lunatic so found. They are sane adulterers! This correspondent, a Bible believing Pentecostal Christian agrees with ex-archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Anglican Communion, All Nigeria, Peter Jasper Akinola’s “on-the-Encounter-resolution we stand” posture about “Scripture, the Family and Human Sexuality.” He totally rejoices that “scripture upholds marriage as a sacred relationship between a man and a woman, instituted in the creation ordinance, that the only sexual expression, as taught by Scripture, which honours God and upholds human dignity, is that between a man and a woman within the sacred ordinance of marriage.”  He finds it laudable that the church of God is “aware of the scourge of sexual promiscuity, including homosexuality, rape and child abuse in our time.”

He is in tandem with the resolution of GAFCON that “these are pastoral problems, and we call on the churches to seek to find a pastoral and scriptural way to bring healing and restoration to those who are affected by any of these harrowing tragedies.” Finally, he believes that for biblical Christianity to reclaim its apostolic mandate and power which was marked by sanctity of the Bible as the eternal word of Jehovah, holiness, righteousness, miracles, healings, signs and wonders, it must as the Bible decrees, “contend for the faith once delivered to the saints” from those “who are proclaiming a new gospel, which really is no gospel!”

He contends that in matters of Christian scriptural doctrine vis-à-vis the body of Christ; the Holy Bible, not eastern philosophy, civil society or western humanism has the last and final word! Social problems, economic challenges and human rights inadequacies though heavy in the agenda of Christendom, should not replace the eternal truth in the Word! Church and government separately or jointly, is not the perfect arbiter of moral values.

Secular authorities, in the mood of changing pendulum of public morality may, from time to time, give their legal stamp to issues deemed offensive by the Holy Bible such as gambling; prostitution, adultery, homosexuality, same- sex unions, pornography, bestiality and paedophilia. Conservative Christianity will be right to stick to the injunctions of the Scriptures which are not subject to fleeting mood of public perception. “However, the author believes that the church while tolerating the competence of secular powers; must not join the train of legalism and liberalism in issues of doctrine that are biblically within its areas of jurisdiction and that is not against the laws of the state.” In this matter, the stand of the author, the conservative branch of the Anglican Communion and similar minded Christians should not be equated with hatred of gays and same-sex advocates.
