UNIPORT Student Kills Girlfriend, Uses Body Parts For Money Rituals – Damian Okoligwe Of Petroleum Engineering Dept Arrested!
In a shocking turn of events at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Damian Okoligwe, a senior student pursuing Petroleum Engineering, has been taken into custody in connection to the alleged murder of his girlfriend, a motive believed to be tied to dark money rituals.
The victim, identified as Justina Otuene, was also a student at UNIPORT. A dedicated learner in her junior year, she was studying Bio-Chemistry. Tragically, her life was cut short in circumstances that have sent shockwaves across the university community.
Speaking to the media in Port Harcourt, the State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, detailed the sequence of events leading up to the grim discovery. He narrated that officers from the Ozuoba Police Station were alerted to a deeply unsettling situation in Mgbu Oba Town, within the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The report was made by an alert and concerned neighbour, living close to Damian, on Road 20, near the NTA Ozuoba region.
Emeka relayed the neighbour’s account, “On that fateful Wednesday, around 2 pm, the neighbour, disturbed by a pungent and unusual smell emanating from Damian’s residence, decided to investigate. The overpowering stench, unusual for a residential setting, alarmed him, prompting an immediate report to the local police authorities.”
Reacting promptly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) spearheaded a team of detectives to the reported location. The investigators, noting the absence of response from inside the house, made the decision to force entry. What they discovered inside was chilling. A large ‘Ghana must-go’ bag revealed the dismembered remains of a person. The early indications suggested it was the body of a female.
A manhunt for the primary tenant of the residence, now the prime suspect, Damian Okoligwe, was immediately initiated, given he was the last person seen with the victim. His connection to the deceased, as her boyfriend, made him central to the unfolding investigation. The police operation succeeded, and Damian, aged 24, was apprehended and taken in for questioning.
The victim was later identified to be Justina Otuene, who was just 20 years old. The brutal manner of her death and the subsequent mutilation of her body has left the community in shock and grief.
While the initial findings are deeply disturbing, the Commissioner emphasized that a comprehensive investigation was underway. He stated, “The case is currently under the rigorous scrutiny of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where experienced investigators are working diligently to uncover every facet of this tragic incident.”
The incident has not only cast a shadow on the academic community of UNIPORT but also raised pressing concerns about the safety and well-being of students. The authorities have been urged to intensify security measures and provide counseling to affected students.
