United Kingdom Deports 76 Nigerians Over Criminal Activities
Oct 31, 2011 – United Kingdom Deports 76 Nigerians Over Criminal Activities
At least 76 Nigerian citizens were deported to Nigeria on 26th of October 2011 for not having the right to live in the United Kingdom plus a few case of crime involvement . Since coming to power under a coalition government, David Cameron has promised to reduce immigration and also recently imposed a migration cap to curb a growing immigration problem in the UK.
Talking to the press, Muhammed Isa, Head of Immigration at the Nigerian High Commission in the UK, said:
“The exercise commenced in 2005 following the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on migration returns between the two countries. It is also in line with global best practices”
May be in a bid to show mutual support, the officials from UK and Nigeria should accompany the chartered flight conveying the deportees to Lagos to ensure that their human rights were protected.
