Oct 4, 2011 – Nigeria women’s coach Uche Eucharia has warned players who fail to show up in camp by Monday to stay away.
The Nigerian women have the second leg of their Olympic qualifier against Cameroon on October 22, and Uche opened camp on September 29, but only a mere five players had shown up two days after.
Skipper Precious Dede, along with Ezinne Mbalisi, Rose Umeh, Augusta Egwim and Asisat Oshoala are the only five players at the team’s hotel, leaving the coach understandably upset and she issued an ultimatum.
“Any player who does not report to camp by Monday 3rd should do well to remain in their houses,” she said.
“We all know how important this return leg is and the players are not here yet.
“I and my assistants (sic) have agreed to give them till Monday before we call up new players.
“We just finished watching the Super Six and Challenge Cup matches and so we have a plethora of players to call up as replacements.”
