COVID-19 Infection Rate Jumped By 97% In 3 Days – Nigeria Center For Disease Control
Nigeria has increased a huge jump in the number of COVID-19 infections.
According to the Center For Disease Control, the control experienced a 97 percent increase in new cases in the last 3 days.
According to the Health Agency, COVID-19 cases increased from 584 on Monday to 1,149 cases on Wednesday.
According to COVID-19 Situation Report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), death rate increased by 53 per cent, with 17 persons dying in the last three days.
The report added that from August 9 to 18, 6,507 new infections were recorded (an increase of 73 per cent), with 49 people dying during the period.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, there had been 184,593 cases and 2,236 deaths, with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.2 per cent.
More worrisome is the increasing infection cases in Akwa Ibom and Rivers states. Akwa Ibom recorded 980 cases in two weeks and Rivers 1,365 cases in two weeks.
Lagos State, however, continues to be the epicentre of the pandemic, with 5,401 cases in two weeks.
