Fidelity Bank receives Bankers Trophy

Oct 17, 2011 – The Management and staff of Fidelity Bank Plc were excited to receive the overall champions trophy for the excellent showing of the bank’s contingent to this year’s edition of the Nigeria Bankers Games which ended on Sunday last week.

The bank’s team of athletes fondly known as Team Fidelity bested all rivals at the games to clinch the trophy after scooping up eight gold medals, 11 silver medals and five bronze medals in the games.

Speaking on the impressive performance of Team Fidelity in the Games, the Managing Director, Reginald Ihejiahi attributed it to the winsome spirit that has been behind the bank’s ceaseless drive for excellence in its core business.

“It is the same spirit that drives our business; the passion to excel in anything we do, to be the best in any endeavor we engage. We take the all round development of our staff seriously and we pay a lot of attention to the work-life balance”, Mr. Ihejiahi explained.

Presenting the overall champion’s trophy to the bank, Fela Bank-Olemoh, the managing director of MediaVision Limited who are organizers of the games commended the management of the bank for the unwavering support it gave to the team which invariably led to its emergence as overall champions.

Mr. Bank-Olemoh observed that the games were becoming increasingly more competitive every year and that Fidelity’s amazing performance was indicative of the fact that the bank was not only good in its core business but equally good in other aspects of life that matter.

The bank’s recent triumph follows a similar effort at last year’s edition of the Games where Team Fidelity also outshone all opponents in the competition to emerge as the overall winners of the championship.  This year’s competition involved five categories of games including football, athletics, table tennis, chess and scrabble over a six weeks period which Team Fidelity dominated completely.

Fidelity showed a keen a appetite for laurels especially in the tracks events where members of Team Fidelity swept mostly gold and silver medals away while putting up impressive performances in other games like football, tennis and scrabble.

In  Athletics, 100m male, it was a no contest as Team Fidelity claimed all three medals with Oju Avurukaoghene carting home the gold medal while Oyekinle Oyeola and Chukwunyere Nwaogu won silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the female category, Team Fidelity also outran all opposition to claim the three medals as Vivian Ezenwoko claimed gold while her colleagues; Anna Ogbebor and Omotola Johnson won silver and gold medals respectively.
