March 22, 2016 – Nollywood Stars Now Visiting Ibinabo Fiberesima At Kirikiri Prison – Charles Granville

How Ibinabo Fiberesima Turned Kirikiri Prison Into Nollywood Tourist Attraction Center

I asked Michael Nwachukwu (Ultimate Man) to pick me up after church service as I wanted to see her but I didn’t want to drive down. It’s not what you think. .. I actually don’t really know my way to certain areas in Lagos. We even had an incident that could have been a tragic accident but God saved us and we managed to get to kirirkiri prison.

I saw many other Nollywood stars that was soothing. “How’s she?” I asked and they all agreed she’s fine. That they’ve seen her and she’s ok.

We waited our turn and then went in to see her. Ever beautiful! It was like she was going to console us to be strong. I tell you, Ibinabo Fiberesima is a real lioness!

I first met IB at the airport in Lagos over a decade ago. As at then, I hadn’t even released a single so she didn’t even know me but she didn’t act like a celebrity. She was warm and friendly and even gave me her number to contact her.

Our friendship grew till we were like family. I wrote a song “Look Within” to strengthen her when I first learnt about the accident she had and the troubles that followed. And when she had the time, I even dragged her into the studio to record it.

During one of our promo tours, when asked about her struggles, she broke down in tears on live TV and we had to go on a commercial break. Everyday since that accident, she had been living in pain and depression. I’m glad she found Christ and later got a new strength to press on!

I remember one day when we went together to the premiere of a movie. How one “Nollywood sweetheart” saw every reason to embarrass IB. I was so disappointed. No one wanted to give her a job and the bills weren’t going away either.

Yet a colleague found a way to make fun of IB. Little did she know that someday soon, this same lady will become her President.

Ibinabo is a strong woman. Her strength and courage inspires me. How even beyond her trials, she has been able to forge success and achieved her dreams. How she’s sacrificed her time and money to help people in need even when she needed help.

People usually identify with the popular side. They stand with you when the going is good and disappear once there’s a problem but I’m glad for once to see the outpouring of love and support for this great woman! Though there are some who do not have the full story and choose to hate, those with her are more!

She prays to be free again soon and we join our faith with her and regardless of the outcome we know that God has a plan. She shall come out stronger

Many thanks to all who wish her well. It shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen! ‪#‎Pray4Ibinabo‬ ‪#‎FreeIbinaboFiberesima‬ #Pray4Ibinabo
