Two German men have been killed in Nigeria, the foreign ministry in Berlin said Wednesday, as media reported they were engineers shot dead while on a motorcycle trip.
“Unfortunately we can confirm that two German nationals were killed in Nigeria last weekend,” a foreign ministry spokesman told AFP.
“The German embassy in Abuja is seeking clarification and is in close contact with Nigerian authorities.”
The ministry did not release further details, either on the victims or the suspected killers.
Regional German newspaper Ostseezeitung said the men, one aged 34 and the other in his mid-50s, were engineers working for German construction company Julius Berger.
Originally from the eastern German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, they had lived in Nigeria for years and were on a private trip when they were killed last Saturday, the newspaper said.

@ Ray, you sound like a totally**** who is in a foreign country but should never even be allowed near lekki. I have lived in Europe for years and truth be told, if you carry yourself as responsible, learn to speak the language of your host country then you even become a boss of the locals there . As I said,you sound ******but not just that, you sound local. I have managed Germans,Italians,English and many others and its all based on how you compose yourself. You said Germans oppress you in their land ,but I doubt you spek decent Deutsche at all.

@ Ray, you come across as totally uneducated and an illiterate to be honest. Germans are very open and still carry the stigma of being led by hitler many years ago. You sound like one of those foreigners who come into a country and does nothing to integrate or empower themselves. I have lived in Europe for many years and even Manage Europeans of different nationalities. Europe is not a place for the lazy man in any way shape or form. Europe is very welcoming on a whole and do no treat blacks the way we do ourselves. My cousins who are from the east of Nigeria could not get jobs in Rivers state government simply because they were not from the state. A person who isnt born and bred nigerian with ancestors dating back 300 years etc cannot legally get a Nigerian passport. My Mum who is canadian has been in Nigeria since 1971 and isnt legally entitled to a Nigerian passport not to talk of social housing or local government funds. Before we as Nigerians open our mouths to talk Racism we are deeply buried in it that we cant see clearly hence why we judge others. Two Germans just died and this is the trash you can say. If Germans did the same,the whole world will shout racist. Truth be told we as Aficans have issues, and the acknowledgement of this last statement is the beginning of the solution to our problems.
