3 Lagos Men Land In Kirikiri For Beating Man To Death

Three individuals, Mukaila Nofiu, Wasiu Rasheed, and Hassan Kazeem, have been remanded to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre in Lagos on charges of murder and attempted murder. The defendants were brought before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court, where they faced allegations of killing Alade Bello and attempting to murder Lasisi Sikiru, who is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The arraignment took place before Magistrate O.Y. Adefope, who presented the defendants with three counts of murder and attempted murder. The prosecutor, Haruna Magaji, informed the court that the defendants committed the crimes on April 14, 2023, in Igbolodo village, along Ketu, Omu Road, Lagos, at approximately 2:46 pm.

According to the prosecution, the defendants used planks and wood as weapons to violently assault the deceased, resulting in his death. Additionally, they attempted to kill another individual but were unsuccessful in their attempt.

The charges brought against the defendants are in violation of Sections 233 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015. However, the defendants did not enter a plea during the arraignment.

In light of the circumstances, the prosecutor requested that the court remand the defendants in custody until they receive legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). Agreeing with the prosecutor’s request, Magistrate Adefope ordered the defendants to be remanded at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre until the DPP provides the necessary legal advice.

The court also set the next hearing for June 16, 2023, allowing sufficient time for the legal advice to be obtained and for the proceedings to move forward.

The case has drawn attention and concern from the public due to the serious nature of the alleged crimes. The families of the victims and the defendants anxiously await the legal proceedings to unfold, seeking justice and closure for the tragic events that occurred on that fateful day in April.

As the defendants await further legal proceedings, it is crucial to remember that everyone is entitled to a fair trial and that the presumption of innocence should prevail until proven guilty. The court will carefully consider the evidence and testimonies presented in order to ensure justice is served.

In the meantime, the families and friends of the victims mourn the loss of their loved one and hope for a swift resolution to the case. The judicial system will play a vital role in addressing the allegations and determining the fate of the defendants based on the evidence presented. The outcome of this case will have a significant impact on the lives of all those involved and will serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of every individual in society.
