Dec 11, 2012 – Lagos State Begins Electricity Generation From Waste / Refuse
The government of Lagos State, Nigeria has begun the process of generating electricity from refuse and waste products as a part of her energy conservation process. naijagists.com
This major breakthrough move was disclosed by Mr Ola Oresanya, the managing director of Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA
In his own words below:
“We have waste to energy where we generate electricity from our wastes at one of our markets, Ikosi market. Then we have recycling plants all over that we’ve established.
“Right now, for plastic recycling centres, we have four centres up and running. The tyre shredding plant is also going on to manufacture rubbers from used tyres and apart from that we have several other things that are really going on in that regard.”
Oresanya said they plan to launch fully in 2013.
